The School Ministries CA Executive Board

Genny Madison - Board President

Genny Madison lives in Ontario with her husband, Larry, who is now wheel-chair-bound due rheumatoid arthritis. They have 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren. They attended First Christian Church when they move from Arizona to California. First Christian Church was one of the founding churches for Released Time Christian Education in Ontario.

Their pastor asked Genny to be on the Released Time board when their oldest son was in 5th grade and a Released Time student. She served on the board from 1968 and as the appointed Director from 1973 until 2018 when a new director was appointed.

While her children were growing up she taught Sunday school, directed vacation Bible school and worked with the Women’s Fellowship. She worked at the children’s school serving as PTA president for 3 years and helping with the annual fundraisers. Genny loves books and learning so she took classes at the local community college. When all three children were in school she worked as a teacher’s aide and transferred to Cal Poly Pomona to finish her liberal Arts Degree. In 1985 she finished a Master’s in Education and earned a teaching credential. She started teaching kindergarten in Ontario-Montclair School District and continued as director of Ontario RTCE. Genny retired from teaching in 2000 when she felt the Lord leading her into other areas of Ministry. She was a board member of BEST Network, and edited a booklet of BEST Practices.

When it was decided to start a network with of Released Time Programs, Genny believed it would be a great benefit to learn from other directors. A state organization - California Released (CaRT) Time Christian Education was started in 1988 to support and learn from the experience of other RT leaders. Genny has served on the CaRT board in various positions including President and Vice President. Now that CaRT is a part of the National RTCE Program, School Ministries Inc., Genny is president of SMI CA.

Genny says Released Time Christian Education fills the need she has to serve the Lord with the skills she learned when she was growing up and when she became a public school teacher. Released Time Christian Education is the perfect fit. Genny loves to spend time with her children and grandchildren, gardening and reading. She is a member of Sunrise Ontario.
